Meet The Sonder Team

Sonder is a peer and volunteer-led LGBTQIA+ recovery community.

 Leadership Team

The Sonder leadership team is here to empower members to define their own recovery. Each person’s path is their own, and we support all recovery modalities. Leadership team members are volunteers who are on their own recovery journey alongside you.

Carla (she/her), NCPRSS

Controller, Community Outreach

My name is Carla but you can call me Ferrooch. I’m an old-school hardcore punk/anti-racist skinhead girl who has been fighting the power my whole life. From fighting neo-nazis with Anti-Racist Action, to holding batterers and sex offenders accountable as a crime victim advocate, to fighting big corporations at the legislature. I try to improve systems so that the voices of the voiceless are not only heard, but at the table. I am currently 3 years alcohol-free, and on a path of healing from long-held trauma. My recovery superpowers are empathy, movement, and seeking justice.

Kathleen D (she/they)

Care Team Leader, Content Team Leader

I am a 59-year-old queer feminist punk kitchen poet who’s been married for over 36 years to my best friend & continuously sober the last 26+ years. I’ve spent decades cobbling together tools for healing & living a joyful life. I celebrate all recovery paths.

My superpower is being open to awe.

Bek (any)

Marketing, Storytelling

Hi I’m Bek! I’m an audio engineer and microdosing consultant. I have two dogs and a cat named Lefty who is often on camera. I also have a little plastic egg that looks like Jesus, who too is often on camera. His name is Jesus Egg and He is my eggnostic guide. I grew up in a fundamentalist Christian household so I’ve got some religious trauma which resulted in depression, anxiety, and sickness. So I drank about it. Then all of those things got worse. (But really, which came first, the chicken or the Jesus Egg?) My recovery superpower is turning shit into gifts to the tune of “Turn the Beat Around” by Gloria Estefan.

Ashley C (she/her)

Strategic Planning, Program Management

Hi, y’all.  I am Ashley, a grateful member of the Sonder leadership team and community, a parent to two little people, a partner to one amazing human, and a dog mom x2.
On a recovery path for 9 years and alcohol-free for over 4, doing the work to heal has been the hardest and the most rewarding thing I’ve done. Bravely facing generational trauma, reparenting / inner child work, and codependency have been critical to my recovery. My favorite things involve music (especially jam bands), nature, and travel.  I enjoy putting ideas into action and making things better collaboratively. What is my recovery superpower? Embracing authenticity in myself and in others.

Amanda O'B (she/her)

Care team leader

Hey friends, I’m Amanda O’B (aka AOB) located on Adena/Hopewell/Osage land - colonially known as Louisville, KY. Nature, magic, and community saved me. Meditation has also been a huge part of my recovery, and I lead guided meditations on my Monday night call. Learning to live af has been a path of loving who I am and learning that my sensitivity is not a flaw. I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in counseling so that I can do this recovery shit full-time. Four and a half years alcohol-free, and I am stoked every day that I get to cheer others on their journey. My recovery superpowers are boundaries for days and urge-surfing like a mermaid.
